How to stop the Anti-virus System Pro pop up messages?

Hi!
I think my computer is infected. There is an icon of Anti-Virus System Pro close to the clock on my desktop and there are a few messages & alerts are popping up saying that my computer is infected and need to purchase the Anti-V system Pro. Also when I browse the internet Explorer I can't browse other sites except the system Pro. Does Any One Know How to Disable this Fkn alerts. I hope I don't need to reinstall the winxp again bcuz I did it 2 months ago. I think the Pro itself is a virus???

Same thing happened to me. I got it to stop by going to start-help and support then tools - open system configuration - click on start up and scroll till you see in the list "sysguard" un-tick the box and reboot. You should see a improvement but after awhile it will come back but now I get a blocked/error page but the same url shows.Not as much a pain in the butt now...also block it in restricted sites in Internet Explorer just for the heck of it.
(while in System Config. see what you have that's a program...and untick any programs you don't need starting at boot up to slow your pc down. You can always go back and change anything you do. So don't be scared)
Dump cookies and do a general clean up, Try right clicking on the words my computer in start and click manage- dbl. click event viewer-dbl click applications- right click on applications and clear events- do not save- drop down to system - right click clear all - and do not save.
